The Pandemic and YOU

Why do you think so many Americans have a chronic disease? Do you think socialization plays a role in individuals’ development of chronic diseases? Why or why not? Why do you think having a chronic disease makes a person more susceptible to COVID-19?

Chronic Disease

People with chronic diseases are at a higher risk of severe illness and death if infected with COVID-19. These include, but are not limited to, heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, asthma, and obesity, just to name a few. Estimates are that 60 percent of Americans have at least one chronic disease (CDC 2020).
