Connecting Sociology and YOU!

The Pandemic and YOU

Do you know anyone who was unable to work when non-essential businesses shut down during the pandemic? Were they compensated for any of the time they could not work or did the business lack the funds to pay employees during the pandemic? What other options do you think people consider to make up for their lost income?

Income

The pandemic-related financial losses translate into a loss of income for various segments of society. Low income and younger adult households have been the groups hardest hit by the work slowdowns (Smith and Klee 2020). The loss of income translates into worries about the ability to pay bills like rent and concerns over food insecurity.
