The COVID-19 pandemic constituted more of a moral panic than the 2014 Ebola scare. This was due to how much easier Coronavirus spreads than Ebola. From 2014-2016, 11,300 people died of Ebola (World Vision 2020). Between January 2020 and January 2021, nearly 2 million people around the world died of COVID-19, including over 360,000 in the United States (Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Research Center 2021).
