How can violence against women be addressed during stay home orders and social distancing? Are there programs or procedures that can be implemented to check on individuals’ safety, especially during quarantine? What external factors and stressors may contribute to high rates of abuse during the pandemic?

The worldwide lockdown during COVID-19 heightened concerns about violence against women. Before the pandemic, a woman may have been able to spend time away from or even leave her abuser. Quarantined at home with abusers around the clock left little room for respite or escape (Abalaka 2020).
